Rules and Regulations

  • There is Absolutely NO Hunting on Glenwood Springs park land in South Canyon. This include the areas that are leased by the Glenwood Springs Gun Club.
  • Trap Machines (hand or electric) are not for personal use. They may only be opened by club officers for club events. Members may bring their own machines for use in shot gun areas.
  • There will be no new Memberships after September 1, of each year.
  • Treat all firearms as if they are loaded AT ALL TIMES.
    Know your target and what is beyond it.
  • Cooperate with others on cease-fires for target placement and obey all Range commands.
  • Shoot only in the appropriate direction from the designated firing lines.
  • No one will be allowed down Range until firearms are unloaded with actions open, and all weapons are tabled, grounded, or holstered.
  • Shoot at authorized targets only.
     a. Exploding Targets are never allowed. Anyone found with such    targets will lose their membership and be subject to prosecution.
     b. Cans, bottles, etc. are Never to be used as targets.
    c.  Shooting target frames, rails, posts or other range fixtures is not allowed. Anyone caught doing this will be subject to damages.
  • Shoot only on designated ranges
  • Use each type of firearm only on the range designated for that type of firearm. (i.e. only shotguns are allowed in the Sporting Clay and Trap fields. Only pistols are allowed on the pistol range. Only Rifles and Pistols are allowed on the rifle  ranges.)
  • Only use standard, authorized ammunition.
    a. Tracer rounds are never allowed. Anyone shooting such  rounds will lose their membership and be subject to prosecution.
    b. Armor piercing rounds are not allowed.
    c. No shot size larger than 7 1/2 is permitted at the shotgun ranges.
    d. 50 BMG rounds maybe fired only at designated 50 BMG targets
  • Appropriate ear and eye protection must be worn at all times. This rule includes spotters and score keepers during matches.
  • Call “Cease Fire” and make safe all firearms when observing any unsafe condition or when a shooter moves forward of the firing line. Notify a Club Officer immediately of any safety infractions.
  • Children under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times, and accompanied by a member.
  • Take all trash, used targets, empty ammo boxes, etc., out with you.
  • Police all brass that accumulates on the Range.
  • Leave the gate closed at all times when entering or leaving the range, unless you are opening for an event. If you find the gate open leave the gate open unless you see that no one else is at the range.
  • DO NOT give the gate key/combination to anyone who is not a member.
  • The keys must be returned within 48 hours after being checked out.
    Keys may be checked out from the front desk at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. 
  • Members are required to carry their membership cards with them while on the grounds leased by the club.  Members shall present their cards to anyone requesting to see them.
  • Any member who does not obey these rules will have their membership terminated immediately.
